In 1957 N.L van Geest started the cultivation of amaryllis bulbs. Officially this bulb crop is called “Hippeastrum”, but in popular speech it soon was called amaryllis. The amaryllis flower is available in lots of different varieties and colours. We can proudly say that we have got disposal of a very large diversity of amaryllis bulbs.
N.L van Geest BV has grown out into a large family company which has got disposal of three large nurseries with a total surface area of 93000 square meters. In these three nurseries the cultivation of the amaryllis bulbs takes place. But we do not only cultivate the amaryllis bulbs, we also process them for use and make sure that they are transported properly to their destinations.
After the amaryllis bulbs are digged up, dried, sorted, and if desired, stuffed or “boiled” (which is also known as the so called warm water treatment) they are being transported to their final destination by one of our own truck drivers.
We can proudly say that we are member of “Amaril CV”. This is an association which is mainly concerned with elevating amaryllis bulbs. Our company meets the strictest requirements, besides that we are M.P.S.-A and Nen-en-ISO 9001-2000 certificated.
